Brand Creation, Editorial Design and Web Design
Programs: InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop
Art Director: Hubert Burda Media/Immediate Media
The Brief
To develop a fresh, modern interiors magazine aimed at a younger audience, sitting alongside Your Home magazine in the competitive lifestyle market. The goal was to create a visually appealing and accessible publication that blended inspiration with affordability, appealing to first-time buyers and style-conscious readers. The brand needed to feel contemporary and fun, while maintaining professional standards across both print and digital formats.
The Deliverables
I created the full magazine identity and design for HomeStyle Magazine, overseeing all aspects of layout and visual direction across print and digital. This included designing every issue from initial concept through to final production, ensuring each edition remained fresh while staying true to the brand. As Art Director and Brand Guardian, I worked closely with the Editor, Managing Director, and Editorial team on all creative outputs, maintaining consistency and high design standards. Responsibilities also included art directing, styling, and attending photoshoots to ensure visual cohesion and brand alignment across all imagery.
The Results
As a team, we successfully launched HomeStyle Magazine in April 2015, establishing a strong visual identity and market presence. Over four years, myself and my editorial team maintained and developed the brand, producing 54 issues including the main magazine, supplements, and specials. During this time, the magazine achieved sales of over 55,000 copies and a monthly readership of 156,000.
