I know that I am a little bit late to the whole New Year spectacle, but it seems that it is only now that I’ve had time to breathe and really think about. The holiday time is just so crazy. In between Christmas and New Years, having family over, catching up with friends who have been away or are going away, as well as the crazy time at work with sale (I’m in retail btw), the time has just flown by!
Now that I’m emerging from the storm, I feel like I can finally get back into this little blog and start jotting down the exciting things that will hopefully be happening in 2014. I am not usually the kind of person that will make resolutions or look at the new year with great significance, but I feel that this is a quite an exciting and changing time for me at the moment, and I therefore wanted to somewhat mark the occasion and set out what I want to achieve this year
One of the biggest things to come out of the last couple of months is that I am finished university forever! Words could not even express the relief and excitement that I felt when I handed in my Masters thesis in December last year. I’m not going to lie, it was a tough slog for me to get that done, and was the main reason that this blog lay dormant throughout last year. I had many troubles with supervisors (or the absence of them more like) so I trudged through most of it alone, thus taking me longer than originally planned.
But now that the university chapter in my life has ended, this year is also the first time that I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen going forward. I have no uni courses to plan my year around, so everything is completely wide open! While that thought is absolutely terrifying, it is also very exciting because now is finally the time where I can spread my wings so to speak. One of the biggest things that I hope to happen this year is that I will go overseas again…yay! The last time I got on a plane was much too long ago, and there are so many places that I am just itching to go to.
I’m going to spend the first half of the year scrimping and saving because I would like to make the big move to London…not for ever, but maybe at least for a year. It seems to be a bit of a rite of passage for many Australians and it is something I have always dreamed of doing. I absolutely fell in love with London on my visits there, and spending some more time there is definitely on the bucket list. And now seems like the perfect time to do it.
So wish me luck and join me for the ride.
